We are very proud to present Ørsted as case company of The Case Experience 2019. Ørsted is a leading renewable energy company seeking to create a world that runs entirely on green energy. In 1991, Ørsted pioneered the world’s first offshore wind farm and has emerged as the largest offshore wind company globally today.

More than 100 economics students from universities in Denmark solved the case centred around Ørsted’s business in the US green energy market. Participants were asked to investigate the fit of US solar PV with Ørsted’s current portfolio, to analyse if Ørsted should proceed entering the US market and to determine the socially optimal mix of solar PV and wind energy in 2030.

This year, the case was once again written by three talented economics students from the University of Copenhagen in collaboration with Ørsted. Click here to read the case.

pre-case partner: the Danish ministry of finance

The Ministry of Finance plays an important role in the economic policies of changing governments and helps shape the economic environment in Denmark. Their tasks include all from effective management of public finances to coordinating the government efforts to strengthen productivity development and thus growth. It is also a big employer of economists, producing analysis and reports on everything from public sector budgets to productivity initiatives.

This year, you have the opportunity to solve an economic case based on the work of the Ministry of Finance. The Partner Pre-Case is an introductory case for both experienced and first-time case solvers. All participants receive feedback from the Ministry of Finance while the three best products will compete for the winning title in a closed-door final.
